If your favorite show is cancelled, it’s a bitter pill to swallow. However, it gets even more bitter when this series ends with a spectacular cliffhanger. This happened with the Netflix series “Warrior Nun” after the second season. Netflix has never given an explanation why the Spanish-American series will not get a third season.
The fans didn’t mind that. With Twitter actions and a petition signed by over 120,000 people, they tried everything to save “Warrior Nun” and bring it to a definitive end.
Check it out: it worked. Series creator Simon Barry announced on Twitter last week that “Warrior Nun” would go ahead – half a year after Netflix canceled the series.
Today I am pleased to officially announce that because of your combined voices, passion and tremendous efforts… #WarriorWell will return and become EPICer than you can imagine. More details to follow! SOON! Thank you!! #SaveWarriorWell #WarriorNunSaved ❤️🎬 pic.twitter.com/yuTbRR2L3q

However, the new episodes will not be produced by Netflix, “Entertainment Weekly” confirms. It is not yet known which streaming service will pick up the series. Barry promises that more information will follow soon.
“Warrior Nun” is not the only series saved by fans. Here are seven more examples:
Fox says to cancel Brooklyn Nine-Nine after five seasons. Fan response has been overwhelming, showrunner Dan Goor says. Stars such as Mark Hamill, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Guillermo del Toro also commented. Just a day later, NBC announced it would continue the show and they produced three more seasons.
Like “Warrior Nun”, “Sense8” was canceled by Netflix after two seasons and a cliffhanger. On social media, fans rushed to bring the show back for a worthy finale. After a month, Netflix agreed and produced a two and a half hour finale.
Fans not only saved “Arrested Development” with letters, they also sent the creators fake bananas – this is a reference to the banana stand that the Bluth family runs. This led to the series being renewed for a fourth season in 2013. After that, however, it was canceled and only renewed for a fifth season in 2018.
Family Guy was canceled in 2003 after three seasons. Fans began buying DVDs — millions — which caught the studio’s attention. The series was finally expanded in 2005 and is still running. There are now 21 seasons.
“Jericho” was canceled after only one season, but loyal fans were not about to give up the series without a fight. They came up with the idea of sending notes to the station based on a line from Skeet Ulrich’s character.
So they sent about eight million peanuts to the producers and it worked. But after the second season, the post-apocalyptic drama was canceled for good.
When “Star Trek” was about to be canceled after its second season, sci-fi author Betty JoAnne Trimble and her husband organized a fan campaign to write thousands of letters to those responsible. The station received more than 110,000 letters, but the number is believed to be much higher.
After the series was canceled after the third season, Trekkies sent more letters – but without success. “Star Trek” eventually became a classic that gave rise to several movies and series.
Fans of “The Expanse” got creative when it came to revamping their favorite show. In addition to the normal petition work and letter writing (George RR Martin also participated), they raised money to charter a plane to fly over the Amazon studio with a banner reading #SaveTheExpanse. The series was renewed for two seasons and the last episode will air in 2021.
