As the Bitkom industry association announced in Berlin on Thursday, 73 or 70 percent of respondents choose these methods. Young people aged 16-29 pick up the phone as often as seniors aged 65 and over.

One out of every two people wants to send a postcard

Young people, at 85 percent, use a messenger much more often than older people, at 32 percent, to send their holiday greetings. However, the classic postcard is sent anyway. 51 percent of those planning a summer vacation this year would like to send their congratulations by postcard or letter. One in two people between the ages of 16 and 29 wants to buy a pen. This rate is 55 percent, as is the case for people over 65 years of age.

Social media and video calling

Social networks are used for summer greetings by 45 percent. 40% use a video phone. Only ten percent send their greetings via SMS. User-designed postcards through an app are sent at nine percent, and emails at only two percent. A short message from the holiday is an integral part for many. Only six percent want to do without it this year.

64 percent of the respondents want to go on summer vacation this year. The value is almost back to the pre-pandemic level in 2019. For the survey, 1002 people aged 16 and over were interviewed. 639 of them are planning a summer vacation this year.
