In the meantime, one hears very little from the former child star Macaulay Culkinbut that is not necessarily due to a lack of vacancies. As the ‘Home Alone’ actor revealed, he was approached several times for the hit sitcom ‘The Big Bang Theory’. He was supposed to play one of the main characters, but Culkin turned it down — over and over, as he did on the podcast revealed.
“They approached me about The Big Bang Theory, but I said no,” said the 42-year-old. And goes on to explain how his decision came about: “The pitch went like this: ‘Okay, we have these two astrophysics nerds and a beautiful girl living together.’ Yoinks! That was the field. They said, “We’ll let real physicists take care of the mathematical formulas,” but I just said, “Thanks, but it’s okay.” And then they tried again, and again I thought, “No, no, no. I’m honored, but no!” And again, even my manager wanted me to do this job.”
Does Culkin regret his decision?
Culkin didn’t reveal exactly what role it was. Still, we can assume it must have been one of the main characters – Leonard Hofstadter or Sheldon Cooper.
Because the former child star is well aware that “The Big Bang Theory” could have been a big comeback for him. At least financially, as the hit sitcom doesn’t seem to suit his tastes, as he leaked: “I would be hundreds of millions of dollars richer now if I had taken the job,” Culkin admitted. “But at the same time I was banging my head against the wall.”
