Celebrities are people too, so why should they be any different than the contestants on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire when it comes to taking quizzes? Questions that can normally be answered in a jiffy suddenly feel like unsolvable puzzles when the pressure is too great – and it’s not just about making a lot of money, but saving face in front of an audience of millions.
It happened in a similar way Joko Winterscheidt in the third season of Who’s Steeling The Show?. In ProSieben’s successful show, three celebrities and a randomly selected viewer compete against Joko in various disciplines with the aim of stealing the show from him – and not just in a figurative sense. Whoever wins can moderate and shape the next edition of the show as they see fit – until Joko wins it back.
In the first show of season 3, Joko was left behind and had to hand over the next song to singer Mark Forster. This was due to a series of dropouts in the final: the 44-year-old couldn’t answer any of the questions that presenter Kathrin Bauerfeind asked Joko and Forster – including biting a super simple Tarantino question!
Bauerfeind wanted to know the following about the two opponents:
- “Beatrix Kiddo’s ‘Death List Five’ includes: O-Ren Ishii, Vernita Green, Budd, Elle Driver – and who else?”
Filmstarts readers will know right away, of course: The supplemental question refers to Quentin Tarantino’s two-film revenge epic “Kill Bill” starring Uma Thurman. And Joko was also able to immediately classify which film it is. However, the moderator did not notice that the answer is already in the movie title – a classic case of blackout …
Who wants to kill Uma Thurman again in ‘Kill Bill’?
Because the answer would simply have been “Bill” – after all, Bill is the head of the assassin squad “Deadly Vipers” and thus the main target of Beatrix Kiddo’s bloody revenge campaign. But Joko just didn’t want to get to the obvious – and jokingly opted for “Mark Forster”. Of course he answered the question correctly. “Oh God, how stupid am I!” Winterscheidt was annoyed – and gritted his teeth and had to hand the show over to his opponent.
ProSieben will broadcast the sixth season from autumn 2023. So Joko has one more summer to prepare – and to avoid such blunders.
