“The Expendables 4” or “Expend4bles”, as the movie was originally called? Whatever you call (and write) the movie, one thing’s for sure: we can expect more homemade action featuring many Hollywood battlehorses. The fourth part of the series “The Expendables” will be released in cinemas on September 21, 2023.
One such battlehorse is Jason Statham, who has now shared some stunning footage from the shoot on Instagram, showing him alongside martial arts legend Tony Jaa. And on this, the fight scenes, kept in black and white and captured mid-movement, look a bit more impressive and cool – although you wouldn’t have expected anything different from Statham, but especially from martial artist Tony Jaa:
Of course, Statham and Jaa aren’t going through The Expendables 4 alone. In the foreground may action veteran Sylvester Stallone fight as Barney Ross again, even though his role will be much smaller this time. He is joined by Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture and the brand new Megan Fox and 50 Cent. “The Raid” star Iko Uwais is there as a villain, and we see Andy Garcia (“Ocean’s Eleven”) as a CIA agent. This time, however, we have to do without Arnold Schwarzenegger – you can read why in the following article:
In The Expendables 4, the mercenaries embark on their final mission. This time, Barney Ross and his team must face criminal Suarto (Iko Uwais), head of a terrorist organization bent on provoking a nuclear conflict between the US and Russia.
This time the direction was taken over by a stunt expert Scott Waugh, who, for example, was part of the stunt crew in Arnold Schwarzenegger’s action classic “Last Action Hero”. All four parts of the series “The Expendables” were now staged by a different director. While Sylvester Stallone himself directed part 1, he passed the baton to Simon West for part 2, while Patrick Hughes directed The Expendables 3.
