88,400,000 hours i.e. 88.4 million hours was “Tyler Rake: Extraction 2viewed in the first week after Netflix’s launch. For example, the action hit starring Chris Hemsworth took the top spot in the global Netflix movie charts last week, followed by 2020’s rewinding “Tyler Rake: Extraction”. June and was therefore only available on Netflix for three days last week.
And that’s not the only record news. Than At 88.4 million hours, “Tyler Rake 2” has also trumped the most successful Netflix launch to date in 2023: “The mother“ with Jennifer Lopez launched on Netflix on May 12 and was viewed 83.7 million hours in its first three days. The following week, however, another strong 94.4 million hours were added, making ‘The Mother’ also the most successful Netflix film of 2023 so far.
However, we could imagine it that Chris Hemsworth collects even more hours in the second week and eventually also catches up with Jennifer Lopez. The first “Extraction” is the 8th highest grossing Netflix movie of all time with almost 267 million hours of viewing. If Extraction 2 doesn’t make the top 10, it would be a surprise – and a disappointment for Netflix. By the way, “The Mother” is not currently in the top 10, but the rating period has not yet expired either.
New Netflix stats
Where Netflix has taken the first four weeks after release for the most successful films and series (divided into English and non-English) into account, it is now the first 91 days, so exactly 13 weeks or almost three months. “The Mother” can collect viewing hours until July 11, “Tyler Rake 2” even until September 15.
In addition, the streaming service recently also displays the duration of films and series, which (with a little computing power) significantly increases the comparability of titles in the top 10 lists. On the other hand, the also new “Views” are a bit of a sham. Because this does not hide the actual access numbers. Rather, views are simply hours watched divided by a title’s playing time, which is only explained in the fine print – or in detail here with us:
