Black Mirror started out as a fairly small series on UK TV Channel 4, but since the dystopian anthology series migrated to Netflix, it has become much more popular and prestigious. That means: there are more and more big names in front of the camera. In addition to well-known (Netflix) stars such as Aaron Paul (“Breaking Bad”) or Zazie Beetz, known from “Deadpool 2” and “Joker”, there are also some faces that are not so easy to classify – for example, because they have not been in a while have been seen more or just in completely different roles:
Anne Murphy: Many of you may have seen Annie Murphy, and luckily, at the end of episode 1 (Joan Is Awful), one of her series is mentioned: the award-winning comedy series Schitt’s Creek (currently available on WOW). However, they are also known for the great sitcom parody Kevin Can F**k Himself or Matryoshka on Netflix.
Daniel Portman: Episode 2 “Loch Henry” also features Daniel Portman, who many probably remember as Podrick “Pod” Payne from “Game Of Thrones”. Pod grew from a shy squire to a strong warrior and member of the Kingsguard over six seasons.
Samuel Blenkin: However, the protagonist of “Loch Henry” is Samuel Blenkin, who also just appeared in a fantasy series, albeit on Netflix: In “The Witcher: Blood Origin” he played the elven mage Avallac’h.
John Hannah: And then there’s John Hannah in Episode 2, who many probably know best from the romantic classics “Four Weddings and a Funeral” and “The Mummy” starring Brendan Fraser and its two sequels. But he’s aged a bit since then (like all of us). He is also known from the historical series “Spartacus”.
Josh Hartnett: While he’s appeared in new movies and series in recent years, Josh Hartnett is one of those stars who feels like he’s been gone since the early 2000s (and movies like Pearl Harbor). However, with appearances in films such as “Cash Truck” and “Operation Fortune”, he is currently working on a comeback – showing off a great performance both in them and in “Black Mirror” Episode 3.
Rory Culkin: No, it wasn’t Home Alone’s Macaulay Culkin who raided Josh Hartnett’s character’s house in Episode 3, aka Beyond The Sea — nor was it Kieran Culkin of Succession and Scott Pilgrim. On the contrary, their younger brother Rory Culkin is seen here as Kappa.
Kate Mara: Kate Mara is also known from Netflix, after all, she is part of the cast of the political series “House Of Cards”, which started the streaming service’s triumphant rise. She also starred in blockbusters like “The Martian” or the Marvel flop “Fantastic Four”.
Danny Ramirez: The first Marvel star on this list: Danny Ramirez from episode 4, many of you must have seen him in the MCU series The Falcon And The Winter Soldier, as the junior Falcon Joaquin Torres. He also appeared in Top Gun 2: Maverick as a pilot going by the call sign Fanboy.
Clara Rugaard: You may also have seen the eponymous Mazey Day in Episode 4 on Netflix – namely in the sci-fi insider tip “I Am Mother”.
Anjan Vasan: Strictly speaking, Anjana Vasan from episode 5 is also known from Marvel, but you have to look very closely because she plays a reporter in “Spider-Man: Far From Home”. However, she can also be seen in “Sex Education” and in the new Netflix series “Killing Eve”.
