“The Witcher”, “Stranger Things”, “Wednesday”, “Squid Game” – all major Netflix news

Every year, Netflix airs a multi-hour live event called Tudum where they announce what’s new. The almost three-hour fan event was broadcast from Brazil this year and a number of stars such as Arnold Schwarzenegger, Nicola Coughlan, Benedict Wong and Henry Cavill presented the news about their Netflix series in São Paulo.

Chris Hemsworth also took the stage and announced that the third film of “Tyler Rake: Extraction” is already in the planning stages. Schwarzenegger announced a second season of “Fubar” and Gal Gadot presented her new action movie “Heart of Stone”.

The fifth season of “Stranger Things” will be the last. Before the grand finale, Netflix announced that “Terminator” star Linda Hamilton will be joining the cast.

The new season is currently in pre-production, a start date has not yet been announced.

The third season of “The Witcher” is the last, starring Henry Cavill. Along with his co-stars Any Chalotra, Freya Allan and Joey Batey, he presented an excerpt from a scene from the upcoming season.

The first part of the third season will start on June 29, part 2 coming on July 27.

It is already known that there will be a second season of «Wednesday». In a recent interview with Variety, lead actress Jenna Ortega — who also serves as a producer on the new season — told Variety that the second season will focus less on romantic storylines and lean more toward horror.

Ortega and her co-stars Emma Myers, Joy Sunday and Hunter Doohan are not yet allowed to reveal anything about the new storyline. However, they discussed several fan theories for the new season and confirmed that there will be a member of the Addams family that viewers haven’t seen in “Wednesday” before.

No trailer has been released for the new season of “Bridgerton” yet, but the first pictures have been released. Not much is known about the plot yet, but the new episodes will revolve around Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington – otherwise known as Lady Whistledown.

The start date is not yet known.

On August 31, Netflix will release the live-action adaptation of the manga «One Piece». The protagonists Iñaki Godoy, Mackenyu, Emily Rudd, Jacob Romero Gibson and Taz Skylar presented the first teaser of the series at TUDUM.

In the third season of «Lupine», Assane Diop escapes his self-imposed exile and returns to Paris. But his past won’t let him go. The new season will premiere on Netflix on October 5. A first fragment of the new season was shown at Tudum.

“Squid Game” continues. Netflix showed a short preview of the popular Korean series last weekend. The new episodes will be released in November.

The fifth season will be the last for “You”. Lead actor Penn Badgley gave a first look at the new season and leaves fans guessing how it will all turn out.

According to Netflix, the final season will be available on Netflix “soon”. An exact date was not given.

Corinna Brown and Kizzy Edgell, who play Tara and Darcy in “Heartstopper,” shared a first clip of season two online.

The new season will be released on August 3.

The stars of the live-action adaptation of “Avatar: The Last Airbender” also took the stage in Tudum and presented the first shots of the main characters. The series has been announced for 2024.

Director Zack Snyder creates a whole new sci-fi universe with “Rebel Moon,” in which a peaceful colony is suddenly threatened by a tyrannical ruler. Start is December 22.

In this film adaptation of a novel, a scientist becomes entangled in an alien conspiracy. The series is being edited by Game of Thrones producers David Benoiff and DB Weiss.

The series has been announced for January 2024.
