In Apple’s case, it’s not at all unusual for major movies to be released not only on their internal streaming service, AppleTV+, but also in movie theaters. Two real chunks await us here this year: Martin Scorsese’s true crime drama “Killers Of The Flower Moon” starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Ridley Scott’s historical epic “Napoleon” starring Joaquin Phoenix in the lead role of the same name. But that is not enough:
As announced now, Apple and Universal Pictures are also bringing the cop action movie “Argylle” to theaters: The film will hit theaters in North America on February 2, 2024, and will be available to stream on AppleTV+ shortly thereafter.
A German cinema release is not yet known, but it can be assumed that “Argylle” will also be seen on the big screen in this country. Probably February 1, since reboots in Germany usually come out on Thursdays and not Fridays like in America. We’ve asked the agency responsible for Apple TV+ and will keep you posted.
This is “Argylle” with Henry Cavill
While Kingsman and Kick-Ass creator Matthew Vaughn has taken the director’s chair on Argylle, there will be plenty of familiar faces in front of the camera:
So do Henry Cavill (“Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice”), Bryce Dallas Howard (“Jurassic World”), Catherine O’Hara (“Home Alone”), Sam Rockwell (“Three Billboards”), Bryan Cranston (“Breaking Bad”), John Cena (“Fast X”), Samuel L. Jackson (“Pulp Fiction”), Ariana DeBose (“West Side Story”) and pop superstar Dua Lipa.
A first still of the film already exists, showing Henry Cavill and Dua Lipa in a romantic tight dance:
In “Argylle,” Henry Cavill takes on the titular role of a super spy who has lost his past through amnesia and instead believes himself to be a successful best-selling author. As his memories begin to return, he seeks revenge against The Division, an organization he once worked for. For this he travels not only through the US, but also in London and to exotic places.
