“Should I lend my best friend 15,000 francs?”

My best friend is in a bit of a bind. He completely outdid himself with a project and now owes several tens of thousands of francs. His family helps him and is already taking over a large part. Now it is about 15,000 francs that are missing.

He asked me if I could lend them to him. The thing is, it would be financially okay if I gave him the money. But now I don’t know if I don’t risk our friendship and if tensions can arise in our relationship afterwards.

For example, I noticed that another friend who once borrowed money from me started acting weird in front of me. He stopped ordering drinks when I was around so it wouldn’t look like he was “wasting” money. I didn’t want to join the restaurant for dinner when I was there (but went with others). Those kinds of stories. Since it was a much smaller amount, the situation didn’t last long and he refunded me the money relatively quickly.
