About 100 people demonstrate against the Rammstein concert in Bern

About 100 people demonstrated on Saturday afternoon in the Wankdorfstadion in Bern against the two concerts of the German band Rammstein. The police kept the group away from the concertgoers waiting in front of the stadium.

The demonstrators demanded “No platform for perpetrators” on banners. The participants came from Juso, Campax and the feminist collective Bern. They turned against sexual violence with choreographies and chants, a reporter from the Keystone-SDA news agency observed on the spot.

There were minor provocations between the protesters, separated by police, and the concertgoers. Some demonstrators raised the middle finger to those waiting and shouts like “Until, go away man” were heard.

The concertgoers were relaxed to indifferent. Some took selfies with the protesters behind police cordon.

In the run-up to the two concerts in Bern on Saturday and Sunday, Juso Schweiz asked the organizer to cancel. And they launched a petition, which is also supported by the SP women, the feminist peace organization cfd and the non-governmental organization against violence against women Brava.

The organizer Gadget abc pointed out that neither the band nor any band member had been proven to have committed any crime. Against this background, there is no legal basis for canceling a concert.

Till Lindemann, lead singer of Rammstein, is facing sexual assault allegations. He had all allegations rejected by a law firm.

According to the allegations, selected women were placed in the front row – Row Zero – and later drugged with knockout drops or alcohol at the party after the concerts and sexually assaulted.

At the Bern concerts there is no Row Zero and there is a care offer.
