Nostalgic fireworks in “The Flash”: All the guest appearances in the finale explained

Although “The Flash” is a solo movie according to its title, it was revealed long before it hit theaters that it will also involve a host of other well-known DC characters: Ezra Miller not only plays the famous Flash from “Batman V Superman” and “Justice League”.’, but also a younger version. Sasha Calle makes her debut as Supergirl and there are also two Batman cast members in Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg…

Since already in the course of “The Flash” numerous actors and actresses from the long DC history appear, sometimes more and sometimes less known, and in the finale with the so-called Chronoballs, representing the different parallel worlds of the DC multiverse, the cameo series begins and eventually gets pushed to the limit. We list all the guest appearances (in approximate chronological order) and explain what you need to know about them:

All cameos in “The Flash”

Jeremy Irons as alfred: Right in the film’s opening action sequence, Jeremy Irons reprises his role as Butler Alfred, having previously played that role in Batman V Superman and Justice League.

Henry Cavill as superman: We’re leaning out the window a bit here, because Superman is petite and seen from behind as he springs into action in a volcanic eruption. So you don’t see Henry Cavill actually in the suit. But it is the Cavill Superman, who can later be discovered again in the Speedforce auditorium.

GalGadot as Wonder Woman: We don’t need to say too much about this, except that 2023 seems to be the year of cameos for Gal Gadot.

Kiersey Clemons as Iris West: Clemons was cast ages ago as Barry’s love of life, Iris West, but this is only her second appearance in the role, following Zack Snyder’s Justice League, also referenced in The Flash.

Temuera Morrison as Tom Curry: Anyone who hasn’t seen “Aquaman” might be scratching their heads in surprise at this scene. Morrison played Tom Curry, the father of Arthur Curry aka Aquaman.

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as pizza man: Several FILMSTARTS editors are convinced they saw the Game Of Thrones star in the scene where young Barry tries out his new powers for the first time.

Michael Shannon as General Zod: This performance was also previously revealed: After “Man Of Steel,” Shannon will once again play the ruthless general of Superman’s homeworld of Krypton.

Anthony Traue as Faora Ul: German actress Antje Traue is also back after “Man Of Steel” playing Zod’s right-hand man Faora-Ul.

All cameos in the Chronoball series

George Reeves as superman: George Reeves played the Man of Steel in 1951’s Superman And The Mole Men and reprized the role in the 1950s Adventures Of Superman series. He is the black and white Superman.

Teddy Sears as Jay Garrick / Flash: Another Flash can also be seen in black and white, namely Jay Garrick (recognizable by the winged helmet). Teddy Sears is an interesting choice for the role, as he actually played the villain Zoom, posing as Garrick, in the Arrowverse series The Flash. Many fans online would have preferred to see one of the two series of Flashes Grant Gustin or John Wesley Shipp.

Adam West as Batman: Today, the “Batman” series and the 1960s “Batman” movie are often laughed at, but lead actor Adam West is still an important part of DC history. Robin actor Burt Ward and Joker actor Cesar Romero are also honored.

Christopher Reeve as superman: Probably the most famous and for many also the best Superman actor of all time is celebrating his (digital) comeback.

Helen Slater as Supergirl: One of the four Superman films starring Christopher Reeve is 1984’s Supergirl, in which Helen Slater played the title character. In an interview, director Andy Muschietti revealed to us that he had a crush on Slater as a teenager and that’s why he wanted her in the film.

Nicholas Kooi as superman: Nicolas Cage was supposed to become Superman for Tim Burton in the 90s, but the planned movie “Superman Lives” was never made, although there are even test shots of Cage in costume. That the Cage-Superman fights a giant spider is thanks to “Superman Lives” producer Jon Peters, who dictated such a scene to screenwriter Kevin Smith.

All cameos at the end and in the credits scene

Andy Pushetti like a hot dog man: Andy Muschietti was seen briefly in his previous film It: Chapter 2, and now he’s doing another cameo from a director à la Alfred Hitchcock. He bites into a hot dog at the end of The Flash.

George Clooney as Batman: Clooney reprized his role as Bruce Wayne in 1997’s Batman & Robin, a sign that DC’s reality hadn’t completely reset at the end of The Flash after all.

Jason Momoa as Aquaman: In contrast, Momoa’s appearance as Aquaman in the credits scene probably acts as a sign that things are back to normal and there’s a Justice League again – only with George Clooney instead of Ben Affleck as Batman.
