Lazing by the pool with a glass of wine: these are the best pool wines

The weather is getting better and the temperatures are rising. Jumping into the cool water of a swimming pool refreshes and relaxes at the same time. After you’ve made yourself comfortable in a bath towel or chaise longue and blinked comfortably in the sun, all you really need is a glass of cold wine.

Not all wines have what it takes to be pool wine. White wines, rosés and sparkling wines are much more suitable than red wines. It’s important that the wine stays nice and cold at all times, for example, thanks to a bulging ice bucket.

Rosé wines are preset pool wines

You really can’t go wrong with a glass of cold rosé by the pool. For example, rosé wines from Provence, Zurich or Aargau feel right at home by the pool. It is only important that roses do not have very high alcohol levels.

For example, you should enjoy Rosé wines with more than 14% volume from the Tavel region in Southern France on another occasion. My personal pool wine favorite is Le Rosé from Domaine Gensac by busy Swiss Jan Schürmann. At the very least, an Aargau AOC Rosé Besserstein or AOC Staatsschreiber Rosé from the Zurich State Winery is suitable.

Rosé sparkling wines, such as the trendy Rosé Prosecchi or the crispy Brut Rosé Obrecht from Bündner Herrschaft, crown every pool moment.

What about white or red wines?

While red wines hardly get lost in the pool, white wines are definitely the better cards. Fresh, fruity, uncomplicated white wines such as Chasselas from Lake Geneva are also a good option. Personally, I always prefer a rosé to white wine by the pool. No other wine can underline a cool glass of rosé alongside a summery, relaxed, carefree attitude towards life.

Important: You should not go swimming after drinking alcohol due to the increased risk of circulatory collapse.
