Even as Hollywood horror movies increasingly turn the screw of violence, even popular hits like “Evil Dead Rise” or “Scream VI” fail to make splashes of recognition value on screen. At least that’s what the author of this article thinks. If you want to experience special effects and makeup fireworks like you’ve never seen before, you’ll often find what you’re looking for in Japan, where the filmmakers and their crazy, quirky ideas seem to have no boundaries:
Released June 23, 2023 with “Meatball Machine” And “Bloody Chainsaw Girl returns“ Two Japanese splatter hits completely uncut for home theater. Distributor Midori-Impuls – known for an exquisite selection of Far Eastern genre dishes – is marketing the two orgies of butcher shop completely uncut without FSK approval and donating to the films three strictly limited media book editions each, which fans of Japanese splatter cinema should tear up for: By Edition A*, Edition B* like Edition C* There are only about 250 pieces of “Meatball Machine” each, whereby the author of this article can well imagine that the noble cover B, drawn in manga style, could be sold out in a very short time:
While Meatball Machine has received some strictly limited home theater releases over the years (it’s a 2005 movie, after all), Bloody Chainsaw Girl Returns will have its local home theater premiere next week. Accordingly, the double film, which consists of the solo films “Nero’s Rache” and “Giko’s Awakening”, received a slightly higher circulation. Edition B* And Edition C* are limited to 250 pieces, from Edition A* but there will be a minimum of 500 copies:
Besides, before “Bloody Chainsaw Girl Returns” there was – who would have guessed – “Bloody Chainsaw Girl”, which was also published in three media book varieties. They will at Amazon* While still on the list, they are (of course) long gone. In this case, you probably have no choice but to search other stores and the third-party market or hope for new editions in the future…
These Are “Meatball Machine” & “Bloody Chainsaw Girl Returns”
“Meatball Machine” is a gooey, disgusting monster movie, which actually focuses on the shy Yoji (Issey Takahashi), who one day finally dares to approach the beautiful Sachiko (Aoba Kawai). It’s just a pity that he is then infected by a mysterious, parasitic creature – which soon turns his life completely upside down.
Jun’ichi Yamamoto already told the story in a 1999 low-budget film, and together with Yūdai Yamaguchi, he recreated it in 2005 with greater resources. And how! Although the plot is actually pretty cute, Of course, the movie burns into the memory with the great, handcrafted splatter effects, for which none other than Yoshihiro Nishimura (“Machine Girl”, “Tokyo Gore Police”).
“Bloody Chainsaw Girl Returns” is the reboot of the story about a nerdy schoolgirl who can’t live without her chainsaw. But Gīko (Nana Asakawa) also knows how to use her fists well when it comes to knocking her opponent to the ground. And there’s plenty of that in her latest adventure – after all, the nerdy Nero has turned all the students at her school into an undead cyborg army!
