7 years (!) after her death: that’s why the last film by Carrie Fisher is only now in the cinemas

In December 2016, Carrie Fisher died of cardiac arrest four days earlier on board a flight from London to Los Angeles. The death of the 60-year-old “Star Wars” icon came as a huge shock to fans and filmmakers around the world — including the cast and crew of her latest film, “Wonderwell,” which Fisher completed just six weeks before her death. . . However, there are other reasons why ‘Wonderwell’ doesn’t hit theaters until seven years later.

Like the American industry magazine reported, U.S. distributor Vertical Entertainment is bringing “Wonderwell” to select U.S. theaters on June 23, 2023. A digital publication as video-on-demand is then planned. It is not yet known when and how “Wonderwell” will appear in this country. However, we are sure that sooner or later the fantasy film will also find its way to Germany.

Seven years for computer effects!

Opposite Director Vlad Marsavin, who directed his first feature Wonderwell, explained the seven-year delay as follows:

“The journey we took as filmmakers with this film was as perilous as the film itself. It took us seven years from shoot to screening. The computer effects on a film of this magnitude take time, but we also had to overcome challenges with Covid lockdowns and the death of our wonderful Carrie Fisher. Now is the perfect time to share her magical moments on screen as Hazel with the world.”

How continues, there were problems completing the visual effects after filming was completed, which in turn drove up the budget and thus caused the delay. Aside from that, there will be a dedication to Carrie Fisher in “Wonderwell”.

This is “Wonderful”

In “Wonderwell,” young Violet (Kiera Milward) travels with her older sister Savannah (Nell Tiger Free) and their parents to a medieval village in Tuscany. There Savannah was supposed to do a photo shoot for the fashion label of the famous designer Yana (Rita Ora). A bored Violet soon finds herself in a nearby forest, where she meets the mysterious Hazel (Carrie Fisher).

Hazel warns the curious girl about Yana’s troublesome stepson Daniele (Sebastian Croft) and leads her to a mysterious portal meant to reveal Violet’s future. The photo above shows Carrie Fisher and Kiera Milward and a red apple reminiscent of the Snow White fairy tale…
