With the current Multiverse saga of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, some fans are troubled by the fact that they’ve so far missed a clear thread that the individual projects hinge on a common goal. Many are all the more excited about the next “Avengers” doppelgänger, which should cash in on just that. However, we will have to wait a while for this.
Even before that, the MCU schedule had been adjusted again, which was mainly due to the chaos during the production of “Blade”. Now Disney has generally shaken up its upcoming movie theater appointments again. Not only were projects completely re-dated (e.g. two “Star Wars” films for 2026), but most importantly existing data was also adjusted, which could be attributed at least in part to the current writers’ strike in Hollywood, which is currently causing many delays in the film production in the dream factory.
In addition to the massive postponement of all the “Avatar” sequels, the MCU is in fact also the most affected here, after all, the individual films here (sometimes more, sometimes less) build on each other and therefore cause a real chain reaction in the event of procrastination. This is now also the case with most of the MCU’s Phase 5 remaining films and all of the Phase 6 comic book blockbusters, each of which has been delayed by several months, in the case of the “Avengers” double even by a full year.
Here are the new MCU dates
Below we list all the projects involved with the new and old start dates in chronological order. The US launches are listed before the data, the German launches are likely to take place one or two days earlier, but have not been officially announced yet.
- “Captain America 4: Brave New World“ now starts on July 26, 2024 (previously: May 3, 2024).
- “lightning bolts“ now starts on December 20, 2024 (previously: July 26, 2024).
- “knives“ now starts on February 14, 2025 (previously: September 6, 2024).
- “Fantastic four“ now starts on May 2, 2025 (previously: February 14, 2025).
- “Avengers 5: The Kang Dynasty“ now starts on May 1, 2026 (previously: May 2, 2025).
- “Avengers 6: Secret Wars“ now starts on May 7, 2027 (previously: May 1, 2026).
“Deadpool 3” swims against the current
There’s some good news about all the Marvel delays: As in his stories, Deadpool likes to step out of line when it comes to the theater date.
