According to the suggested retail price, the Hisense A6BG costs no less than 2,999 euros. Amazon* and MediaMarkt currently give you a 61 percent discount on this price and offer the 85-inch TV for only 1,149 euros.
By comparison, one of the currently cheapest OLED TVs in a similar format to the Hisense A6BG is the LG OLED C2 at 83 inches (210 centimeters), which is available at Amazon at a 54 percent discount 3,419 euros* cost. So you pay almost 2,300 less for the Hisense TV.
Direct LED vs OLED: How good is the cheap alternative?
You probably already figured it out: the Hisense A6BG is of course not an OLED television. The 85-inch model has a Direct LED display with 4K resolution and impresses with its excellent price-performance ratio.
You get “only” Direct-LED as screen technology, but the display is still impressive and cuts a good figure in the home theater just because of its size. Technically, the differences between OLED and LED are clear: where an OLED TV has self-illuminating light points, the light points of a direct LED are illuminated by a backlight. OLED TVs could therefore produce even stronger contrasts.
The Hisense television shows its advantages when streaming. Unlike the competition from LG, Sony and Samsung, the A6BG supports the two HDR formats HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, which also achieves very high contrast values. A refresh rate of 60 Hz is completely sufficient for streaming. However, sports fans and next-gen gamers should consider a TV with 120 Hz.
Powerful 4K upscaling thanks to the fast processor
You also have to make compromises when it comes to peak brightness, which is why the Hisense is more suitable for dark home theaters. The good and fast processor of the A6BG is also worth mentioning, which upscales non-4K content to Ultra HD resolution and looks good. The smart TV menu is also convincing and supports all common streaming services.
The Hisense A6BG is of course not a high-end TV given its price, but it does offer unbeatable value for money. If you’re looking for a huge 4K TV to stream and are willing to compromise on brightness and black levels, you might find what you’re looking for in the A6BG.
LG OLED CS9 as a smaller alternative to the 85 inch TV
Those who are not happy with the downsides of the Hisense TV will find better peak brightness and deeper black levels on an OLED TV than on an LED TV. An alternative is the LG OLED CS9 for 1,099 euros at Amazon*. However, the screen diagonal here is only 55 inches (139 centimeters).
Otherwise, the CS9 offers good conditions for sports fans and gamers thanks to the 120 Hz refresh rate and various game modes. Of course, the LG TV is also suitable for streaming, but it does not support HDR10 + as an HDR format. Amazon Prime Video productions such as “The Rings of Power” are therefore not shown at maximum contrast.
