After four seasons, the mystery hit “Manifest” is over. Not only were the adventures of the passengers of Flight 828 dramatic, the story of the series itself got fans excited, after all, cancellation after season 3 – with an open end – was threatened! However, Netflix saved the series that had previously aired on NBC and gave it a wrap-around. After the fourth season with a total of 20 episodes (season 4.1 + season 4.2) it really should have been final. We introduce you to five series similar to “Manifest” that you can watch right now if you have the mystery fever.
“Under The Dome”: Mysteries by Stephen King
Stephen King repeatedly expressed his enthusiasm for “Manifest” on Twitter. The novel for our first series tip came from King himself. Also in “Under the dome“People in a small space become comrades in destiny – but not in a plane, but in a small town. As if out of nowhere, a transparent, impenetrable dome comes over it. As people inside and outside the dome try to figure out the mystery, internal tensions mount.
For example, all three seasons of “Under The Dome” are currently available on Amazon Freevee, the free ad-supported Amazon streaming service.
“Sense8” from the creators of “Matrix”.
“Everything is connected” – the motto of “Manifest” applies in the same way “scythe8to. Here, complete strangers from different parts of the world suddenly discover that they are mentally connected. However, due to their extraordinary abilities, they are soon hunted. The mystery series, credited to “The Matrix” creators Lana and Lilly Wachowski, was canceled after two seasons but was given a lengthy conclusion.
The two seasons of Sense8 and the long finale (attached to Season 2 as Episode 12) are available on Netflix.
“The Leftovers”: mystery meets philosophy
Get out your tissues and get ready to be thrown into musings too. “The leftovers” by Damon Lindelof and Tom Perrotta is not a series that you can easily binge, but precisely because it also raises many profound questions, it is just very good – and is one of the favorite series of the author of this article. From one second to the next, two percent of the world’s population disappears without a trace. The relatives (for example the fantastic Carrie Coon) are looking for answers. Music fans take note: Max Richter’s Goosebumps score is simply amazing.
All three seasons of “The Leftovers” are currently available as a subscription to RTL+ and Amazon Prime Video.
“The OA”: supernatural with “Harry Potter” star
It is really a pity that the Netflix series “The OAwas canceled after only two seasons. Since such creative material has not been seen for a long time, and sadly, fans are left with an annoying cliffhanger. But let me tell you: it’s still worth taking the journey with the protagonist Prairie (Brit Marling). She disappeared as a little blind girl and returns years later as a young woman – who can see. But that’s not the only change in her, and only a few outsiders can understand what happened to her. A mysterious doctor (Jason Isaacs, Lucius Malfoy from “Harry Potter”) also has something to do with it.
The two seasons of The OA are available on Netflix.
“Lost”: The class leader with a controversial ending
Our series tips would be without “Lost“Of course not quite. Many mystery fans will have seen the series on ProSieben at the time – but if you’re a little younger, you may only know about JJ Abrams and Damon Lindelof’s show from hearsay. So it’s high time we caught up on this highly-cited cult series, which has had so many fan theories forged on the internet in the 2000s than ever before. Even though the finale splits the fan community, the series about Jack (Matthew Fox), Kate (Evangeline Lilly) and co., who are stranded on a desert island, is worth watching.
All six seasons of Lost are available through a Disney Plus streaming subscription.
