X opens an auction for the children of the Metropolitan Kiwanis Club

X The “Art for Children” auction opened its doors to the public on Monday, June 5 and ends on Thursday, June 15 at GAC Motor on Calle 50, curated by Menú Creativo.

This Saturday, June 10, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., there will be a guided tour led by curator Reinier Rodríguez who will explain each work participating in the auction.

73 works by 70 talented artists are available, whose bidding via the 32auctions platform started on the night of Monday, June 5.

For 10 years in a row, the Metropolitan Kiwanis Club has held an “Art for Kids” auction to raise funds for various projects benefiting children. Renowned artists have since joined the cause, including Brian Vergara, Eliécer Martínez, Lucio Kansueta, Rolo De Sedas and Braulio Matos.

Other painters joined this project along the way, such as Diego Fábrega, Elsy Acosta, Gennaro Rodríguez and Frankin Rodríguez and others more recent in our auction family such as Alexis Benalcázar, Camila Bernal, Linda Maquívar and Ernesto Asch; and some of those we premiered this year are Amir Lucky, Julia Achurra and Salomón Cohen.

This year, one of the goals of the auction is to promote the sport and spread values through the Kiwanis Metropolitan Baseball Academy – San Francisco. The children who participate in the league are between the ages of 6 and 15 and many are from low-income families in the communities of Boca La Caja and San Sebastián. Baseball keeps them away from idleness and teaches them values such as discipline, friendship, perseverance, teamwork and respect.

Another goal is the Calzando a la Niñez program, which was created as a result of hurricanes Eta and Iota in 2020. when there was a need to equip children with rubber boots so that they could mobilize in the middle of muddy roads. Since then, 22 communities have benefited from Renacimiento in Chiriquí, to La Zahine, in eastern Panama, making a total of about 1,895 school-age children, who keep their feet dry and safe with these boots so they can go to school during the rainy season.

Supporting this auction not only benefits the children, but also means supporting our artists and promoting culture.
