The Alfredo De Saint Malo music festival will start this month

The XVII edition of the International Festival of Academic Music Alfredo De Saint Malo will be held from June 21 to July 2, 2023 at different locations in the city.

This year 2023 will honor teachers Eduardo Charpentier de Castro and Eduardo Charpentier Herrera and a documentary film about their trajectories will be shown.

This cultural and artistic exchange seeks to bring together and influence everyone 500 artists, children, young people, local and foreign musiciansduring 12 days of concerts at the Balboa Theater, the Anita Villalaz Theater, the National Library of Panama City and the National Library of Boquete.

Isaac Casal, artistic director of the festival, said that they will evolve intensive orchestral rehearsalsclosely cooperating with the local music community and the public, as well as realizing exchanges for the professional development of our musicians and positively influencing cultural tourism and the economy of Panama.

In the same way, more than 200 hours of master classes, workshops and music rehearsals and a great orchestra will be formed for the final concert under the direction of the American maestro Albert Bade, who is visiting Panama for the third time; Bade is the recipient of 8 Emmy Awards and is currently the Director of Orchestral Studies at Miami Dade College.

On the other hand, international artists and world-class mentors will work and perform side by side with the local music community, creating immediate impact and opportunities for professional growth, said Anny Núñez, festival coordinator.

On this occasion, local and foreign artists from Australia, Argentina, Germany, Brazil, Colombia, ChileCuba, United States, Italy, Uruguay, Poland, Russia and Venezuela.

National artists and groups such as: Camerata Panama, directed by Víctor Mata; The National Symphony Orchestra, this time under the direction of Colombian conductor Cesar Leal.

american violinist, Eric Silberger, plays Tchaikovsky with director César Leal and the National Symphony Orchestra.

This concert is free and will be held at June 28 at the Balboa Theater at 7:30 p.m

The National Symphony Orchestra Traditionally, this collaboration within the festival is carried out by the Ministry of Culture and the Fundación Sinfoía Concertante de Panamá.
