Gabo Festival, a festival of stories in Latin America

This month returns to Bogotá (Colombia), the biggest party of stories in Latin America, we are talking about the Gabo Festival, which will celebrate its eleventh edition from June 30 to July 2.

The Gabo Festival is characterized as a “city event for journalists and citizens of all ages” with a nutritious program of activities aimed at celebrating the best stories of Latin America.

Three days of the festival, in the organization Gabo Foundation (created by Nobel laureate Gabriel García Márquez), will be a meeting place where multiple voices, realities, forms of expression and visions of storytelling craft.

The eleventh edition of the festival (www.festivalgabo.com), with the motto “#SveUPričama”promotes spaces for reflection and discussionIn addition, it glorifies ethical, rigorous, innovative and public service journalism.

The space offered by the festival is possible thanks to the association Foundation with the SURA and Bancolombia groups, with their branches in Latin America guests from various countries will participate this year as well.

The 2023 edition includes 52 guests from countries such as Colombia, the host, the United States, Mexico, Brazil, Spain, Chile, Puerto Rico, Nicaragua, the Netherlands, Honduras, France and Italy.

As every year, the festival will have a series of workshops, there will be a total of six of them (face-to-face), which aim to promote and develop journalistic skills participants.

Gabo Festival is a meeting place where multiple voices, realities, forms of expression and visions of the art of storytelling coexist and cooperate.

The event promotes spaces for reflection and debate, in addition to celebrating ethical, rigorous, innovative and public service journalism.

The workshops will deal with topics such as the circular economy and recycling investigation from criminal networks that clear forests and control territories, narratives of enjoyment and challenges and solutions for independent journalism in the digital age.

Each of the workshops will last four hours and will be supported by organizations such as the Google News Initiative, Pulitzer Center and Latitude R.
