Prince’s defense lays bare its version of the illegal wiretapping case

The Duke of Sussex’s lawyer, David Sherborne, this Monday lamented that the Daily Mirror tabloid “publicized all aspects” of Prince Henry’s private life, opening a hearing in London into the alleged “illegal wiretapping” that Mirror Group Newspapers (MGN) resorted to.

Although the youngest son of the king Charles III he didn’t show up earlier this morning High Court, Judge Timothy Fancourt demanded the duke’s presence at the afternoon session, despite the fact that he had originally planned to testify tomorrow.

Enrique sued MGN stating that journalists from their headlines – which include the Sunday Mirror and the Sunday People – involved in dubious methods of obtaining information.

Among these practices are private phone tapping (or “hacking”) or using private detectives to carry out illegal activities.

The prince’s case was exposed at the same time as the three other charges being considered “representative” famous people from this country, as part of the court process that started last month and will last about seven weeks.

As the youngest son of the king claims Charles III and Lady Di, around 140 articles published between 1996 and 2010 contained information gathered through illegal methods, while 33 of those publications will be taken into account during this trial.

For its part, MGN denied or did not acknowledge them and also claims that some of them are prosecutor they brought their particular cases to justice too late.

During the Sherborne presentation, the lawyer today recalled what it was like Sunday people It took out a double page spread with a private conversation between the duke and his older brother Guillermo, while the Daily Mirror ran the headline: “Henri’s girlfriend to leave him.”

The lawyer criticized the group for revealing “every aspect of his life, including the ups and downs of his first serious relationship with Chelsea Davy, aired in the newspaper as an exclusive.”

The defense of the media group today recalled that they “I apologize unreservedly” and they accepted that the prince has the right to “adequate compensation”.

MGN’s lawyer, Andrew Green, said that they admitted that the journalist from La gente instructed a private detective to illegally obtain information about Enrique’s activities while in a London nightclub in February 2004.

Green believed that “in the rest, the mentioned accusations are rejected, and in several cases they are not acknowledged”.

Enrique appeared in the same court last March for a preliminary hearing in relation to a separate charge against Associated Newspapers Limited (ANL), owner of the Daily Mail and Mail On Sunday.

The Duke also took legal action against News Group Newspapers, owner of The Sun and the now defunct News Of The World.
