Would you like a sea holiday? Then head to nearby Italy. The land of pasta and pizza has over 7500 beaches and unique islands like Sicily. While most tourists sunbathe on the Adriatic coast between Jesolo and Rimini, we forget about other areas with impressive coves that not everyone knows about.

1. Spiaggia dei Conigli, Lampedusa (Rabbit Beach)

Although Spiaggia dei Conigli translates as Rabbit Beach, there are no rabbits to see on this beach. Koy, with its name, attracts the attention of many people. The coast is one of the most beautiful beaches in Europe, because the turquoise water is simply unbeatable.

2. Spiaggia della Pelosa, Sardinia

La Pelosa beach is located in Stintino, Sardinia. The clear blue water attracts many tourists in high season. Still, it’s best to visit this place out of season, ie before July and after August.

3. Cala Mariolu, Sardinia

Cala Mariolu is located in the north of Sardinia. There is something for everyone here: fine white sand, a flat seabed and a unique underwater world for divers. catch? Cala Mariolu beach can only be reached by foot or boat, and it quickly falls into shade in the afternoon.

4. Cala Rossa, Favignana

To the west of Sicily is the island of Favignana. On it is the unique Cala Rossa bay, which is considered the most beautiful on the island. There are two small coves that can be reached by ferry from Sicily. But there is no beach and limited space for sunbathing. The easiest way to enjoy the beach is from the boat.

5. Spiaggia Porto Selvaggio, Apulia

Spiaggia Porto Selvaggio is hidden in the city of Lecce. The bay also does not have a beach, but is surrounded by greenery. Space on the rocks is limited and it’s important to get there early in the morning to find a good spot. But it’s worth the rush: Porto Selvaggio Regional Park is a nature reserve covering more than 400 hectares and offers a great atmosphere.

6. Isola Bella, Sicily

Isola Bella is an island that can be reached by a sandbar. Crystal clear water surrounds the small island. However, the base is interspersed with rocks. Therefore, water shoes are recommended and a large influx of tourists can be expected.

7. Spiaggia Rosa, Budelli

A special event awaits you on Budelli, a small island off Sardinia: pink sand! The unusual color comes from the shell remains of a coral carried by seagrasses. But it was closed as visitors increasingly polluted the beach. Still, you can admire the natural scenery from afar or from a boat.
