Batman: The Brave And The Bold is one of several movies announced by James Gunn after he took over from DC. The focus here will be not only on the Dark Knight himself, but also on his family – especially his son Damian, who is by his side as the masked helper Robin.
After “The Flash”: Mussetti should be doing more at DC
Recently, a favorite for directing “The Brave And The Bold” has already emerged. Argentinian horror specialist Andrés “Andy” Muschietti (“ES”, “Mama”) has already staged at least two multiverse versions of Batman in “The Flash” (Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck can already be seen in the trailers) and has the first votes delivered a blast. Gunn also remains excited about “The Flash” and has already made it clear that he wants pussyetti for more DC movies.
In addition to a possible “The Flash 2” there was always speculation about “Batman: The Brave And The Bold” – which was recently sparked by Pussyetti herself. At an early fan screening of The Flash, he was asked what his take on a Batman movie would be. His telling reply: “Oh, I don’t think I can talk about that. Not yet.”
Many already take this as a signal that he will direct “The Brave And The Bold” and are therefore not allowed to speak about his vision until it is official. Maybe that’s not that far off. Than it has now been revealed that Andy Muschietti is really set to direct Batman: The Brave And The Bold.
“Batman: The Brave And The Bold” – from the director of “The Flash”?
Known to be quite reliable and knowledgeable, Big Screen Leaks revealed that it had confirmed with multiple sources that Muschietti would indeed be directing Batman: The Brave And The Bold. Following James Gunn himself (doing “Superman: Legacy”) and “Indiana Jones 5” director James Mangold (doing “Swamp Thing”), he is the third director on board for one of the titles in the new DCU.
Until there is an official announcement, you still have to put a little question mark behind the personal details, but there’s a lot to suggest that what’s probably the most important staffing problem for the Batman movie has now been resolved. The directing function should once again be given a special meaning in the DCU, because according to Gunn, under his DC leadership, the creative visions of the filmmakers* will be given a very high priority. Only after this position is filled is a decision on a new Batman actor made.
It remains to be seen whether the decision for a protagonist will be made in the near future. Warner and DC have not yet announced a release date for The Brave And The Bold. Since “Superman: Legacy” is scheduled to open the new DCU in theaters in the summer of 2025, it will certainly be a few more years before the Batman movie follows. At the earliest, late 2025 is conceivable, 2026 or 2027 is more likely.
After all, “The Batman 2” starring Robert Pattinson is scheduled for October 2, 2025. So we don’t think the other Batman will hit theaters at the same time, but not until one of the next two years.
So you can possibly take your time looking for actors – if the new Batman is not shown beforehand (for example, in a credits scene). Incidentally, there are already rumors that “the flashends with a credits scene for the new DCU, which has not yet been previewed. It’s still very unlikely that a new Batman will be revealed here…
