The electricity market is familiar with the ETESA Tariff

More than 40 wholesale market agents in the country’s electricity sector, including producers, distributors and large buyers, participated in the coordinated consultation Electric Transmission Company (ETESA)about models for calculating fees in the services it provides, as well as the results of the Tariff.

Services under the responsibility of ETESA are connection, use of the main transmission system and integrated operation, the fees of which apply to all users Public electricity transmission service, understood as such, direct and indirect users of the National Interconnected System (SIN), as defined by the Transmission Tariff Regime.

The workshop was attended by managers and staff of the state electricity transmission company, representatives of ASEP and companies that produce wholesale electricity in Panama, such as generators and/or self-producers, as well as representatives of various distributors.

On May 10, ETESA announced in the local media Tariff list of the public service electricity transmission, effective from zero (0) hours on July 1, 2021 to twenty-fourth (24) hours on June 30, 2025, based on the maximum allowable income (IMP) approved under the tariff regime.

They apply the appropriate methodology and established efficiency parameters for services provided to participants in the electricity market.

Connection charges reflect the costs of the assets required to comply with the level of reliability required by the standards, to connect each customer to the main transmission system, when these are not owned by the customer.

These fees are calculated based on the different types of connection facilities made available by ETESA and will be paid by users, according to the “typical equipment” used.

In the meantime, Charges for the use of the main transmission system (CUSPT) reflect the costs allocated to each user for using the main transmission system.

CUSPT will be applied according to the tariff zones established in the Transfer Regulation. Before monthly invoicing, the transmission company will calculate the actual CUSPTE following the procedure established in Article 190 of the Transmission Regulation.

With this activity, ETESA is in accordance with the provisions of ASEP in article nine of Resolution AN no. 18387-Elec of April 25, 2023.
