“In Mexico, we will try to improve technical, tactical and to correct the deficiencies, the mistakes that our athletes may have,” Caicedo said.
The boxers will be at high altitude, we are looking for a little more oxygenation, to strengthen the lungs, coach Caicedo added.
Great absence in concentration in Mexico will be Atheyna Baylon because they couldn’t have sparring for its weight in the North American country, Caicedo explained.
So, coaches who will travel to Mexico with the Panamanian boxing team are Carlos Aparicio and Melanio Florez, while Gustavo Caicedo remains in Panama with Atheyna Bylon, who will have a Venezuelan boxer as her sparring partner in our country so that she can continue her preparations.
The advantage of the training in Mexico is that the Panamanian team will be in the Aztec country for three weeks, they have three teams, boxers from other countries will concentrate additionally, this will help the Panamanian boxers to train more, explained the coach. Carlos Aparicio.
We will use that period in Mexico will wear the most gloves possibly against boxers from other countries, Aparicio added, all looking to finalize details for the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games.
Both Caicedo and Aparicio look good options for Panama can win boxing medals at the Games in Salvador, where the draw plays an important role.
In Caicedo’s opinion, all Panamanian boxers are in position to win medals, and he believes that the national team can add between two and three golds.
Panamanians Edgar Rentería in the category up to 52 kilograms and Reynaldo Monroy in 54 kilograms in which he will participate Cali, Colombia, in the cadet category within the qualifications for 2023 Pan American Games.
