Castrosua and BYD announce a range of 450 kilometers for their electric bus for up to 92 passengers

Castrosua and BYD presented this Monday in Santiago the first electric bus produced after the agreement reached in September between both companies to produce highly personalized 12-meter vehicles, which “will soon join the city’s electric fleets, contributing to the transition to electrification of public transport in Spain. It is a bus that combines a revolutionary chassis from the Chinese multinational BYD with an electric powertrain and an award-winning Nelec body from the Santiago company, which exceeds the legal requirements for Class I vehicles and complies with Regulation 66, which refers to resistance to a rollover event.

The 12-meter BYD-Castrosu electric bus can accommodate up to 92 passengers, and with a battery capacity of 422 Kwh, it offers a range of up to 450 kilometers per charge. It respects the environment and is made of new materials that make it the lightest case on the market in that length. The president of Castrosue, Juan Luis Castro, highlighted the launch of the model when the company turns 75 years old. Along with BYD executives, ministers Ethel Vázquez and Francisco Conde attended the presentation, who believe the alliance between Castrosua and BYD will position Galicia to lead the energy transition in public transport.
