Car sales in the first two months exceeded the figure from 2020

In the first two months of almost 1,500 more cars were sold than in the same period in 2022according to data from the National Institute for Statistics and Population Census (Inec).

Sales in January and February were 7,112 vehicles which it even exceeds that registered in 2020which was 7,013.

You have to remember that The Covid-19 pandemic began in March 2020Therefore, in the first two months of that year, economic activity took place normally.

Although they have improved by 25% compared to 2022. the figure still does not reach the one recorded in 2019when 7721 cars were sold in the first two months of this year.

From 2021 The vehicle model that is sold the most in the country is the SUV and in the first two months of this year, this trend continued with 3,698 vehicles purchased, followed by the so-called regular cars with 1,822.

Ordinary cars include models sedan, coupe and station wagon.

Another model that has grown again in sales is pick upwith 793 units in January and February, almost 40% more than in 2022, when 568 were placed.

According to Association of Automobile Dealers of Panama (Adap) in 2022, the five top-selling vehicle brands were Toyota, Hyundai, Kia, Suzuki and Nissan.

As for the models, the best sellers were Toyota Hilux, Hyundai Accent, Toyota Corolla Cross, Toyota Rush and Toyota RAV4.
