In an agreement between companies present in the region, EnfraGen acquired from energy company Celsiaa hydropower project and two solar farms that he managed in Panama.
Through a press release, Celsia reported that it had reached an agreement with EnfraGen on the sale Dos Mares hydroelectric complexwith a capacity of 119 MW, which operates with water from the rivers Esti and David, in the province of Chiriquí.
Also, sold Solar farm badge, which operates with 4,000 solar panels on 15 hectares, in Aguadulce, Coclé; and Prudence Solar Farmwith 25,000 panels, with a capacity of 10.55 MW, located in Las Lomas, David District, Chiriquí.
Celsia, which is part of Grupo Argos, announced that it will continue to operate in the country Colón Thermal Complex, in Bahía Las Minaswith a capacity of 120 MW on coal and 160 MW on liquid fuel (diesel-bunker).
“This agreement represents an opportunity for Celsia to strengthen its position as a relevant player in the transformation of the energy sector in Central America. Our idea is to continue to explore new business opportunities in energy efficiency projects and management of transmission and distribution assets, especially solar energy for businesses,” he said. EnfraGen, of which it is a part Glenfarne’s energy transition is a company with a prominent presence in the energy sector, specifically in the electricity generation sector in Colombia, Chile and Panama.
Glenfarne, through its subsidiary EnfraGen Spainwhich was bought by a Panamanian company in 2018 Hidrotenencias, SA, which manages three hydroelectric plants in Panama. These are PNorth and South and the Concepción Islandslocated in Boquerón, Chiriqui.
In addition to the projects in Panama, EnfraGen bought a wind farm from Celsia in Guanacaste, Costa Rica.
The transaction was completed for 194 million dollarsaccording to international media, and had advice from Banca de Inversión Bancolombia, SA and others, as well as the legal firm Alcogal, in Panama.
