The government disbursed $110 million in payments to rice farmers

He Ministry of Agricultural Development (MIDA) reported that some 110 million dollars approximately National Government disbursed, to align with the process of payment of incentives to rice producers for the agricultural cycle 2022-2023.

Minister of MIDA, Augusto Valderramaaccompanied by the deputy minister Alexis Pineda and his work team, analyzed the various progress reports that will allow them to fulfill these obligations, which will guarantee the continuity of the production of this important cereal, a staple in the diet of Panamanians.

During the meeting, it was estimated that they are waiting to pay some 20 million dollars in rice production and that, in the process of the files presented by the producers, they will pay some at this time 9 million dollars.

Valderrama pointed out that the commitment of this government, led by the President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizospeed up payment processes to producers during this agricultural cycle, which will give them the confidence to continue planting and strengthening this sector, despite the difficulties they have faced such as the pandemic and the increase in inputs and fertilizers.

He added that it is important for input importers, producers and commercial houses to work hand in hand and promote the agricultural sector as a decisive factor for national security, growth and peace in the country.
