Panamanian wrestlers seek quotas for the Pan American Games

Panamanian wrestlers are looking for tickets in different categories to compete Pan American Games in Santiago 2023 in Chile, when they have action in the qualifications that will be held in Buenos Aires, Argentina between May 3 and 6, and immediately after that the World Series of Beach Fighting will take place.

The Panamanian national team that traveled yesterday consists of 12 athletes, they trained in different parts of the country between Panama, Antón (Coclé) and Veraguas, among others, explained the president of the Panamanian Olympic Wrestling Federation, Ángel Riera. that is, every fighter trained in his province.

While for Greco-Roman style wrestling, the Panamanian delegation will be represented by: Royglen Temple (-67 kg), experienced Veragüense Alvis Almendra (-77 kg), Alfonso Jaramillo (-87 kg), Max Madrid (-87 kg) and colonense Rodolfo Waithe ( -130 kg).

The following wrestlers will compete in freestyle: Steven López (-65 kg), Ángel Cortés (-74 kg), Julio Rodríguez (-85 kg) and Juan Cantillo (-97 kg).

The Panamanian delegation will also consist of coaches César Herrera and Eric Beitia

According to host Guillermo Mojico of the Panama Wrestling Federation, lThe chances of Isthmus athletes getting their ticket to the Pan American Games are high, between 80 and 90%, but this is added to the draw that is made for the qualifications in Argentina.

Four athletes advance in the qualifications, which is very important and offers many possibilities, but it also depends on the category and the draw which athletes remain, Mojica repeated.

After the qualifications, the World Cup on the sand will also be held in Argentina between May 6 and 9, for which Panama will have a women’s team of Yusneiry Agrazal (50 kg) and Cristina Manoleskos (-60 kg).

In the men’s division, the national delegation will consist of Manuel Brown up to 80 kilograms, Elton Brown (90 kg) and veteran Kenton Aparicio (100 kg).

The beach delegation will be accompanied by coaches Carlos Belmont Jr. and Boris Arrocha, as delegate Omar MaClean.
