Fedebeis does not want flares or pyrotechnics in stadiums

The Panamanian Baseball Federation (Fedebeis) issued a statement this Monday banning the bringing of flares or pyrotechnics into stadiums hosting the Major League Baseball National Championship.

In this sense, Fedebeis emphasizes that agents of public order have instructions to implement this rule, without any exception.

If the persons do not comply, they will be placed under the orders of the competent authorities, Fedebeis points out.

“We call on the number one sports fans in the country to preserve good customs, avoiding situations that can tarnish the proper development of the activity and endanger the safety of everyone,” he reports.

It should be taken into account that a few years ago there were accidents related to fireworkswith baseball gamesalbeit in different contexts.

For Panamanians, talking about baseball is synonymous with celebration, however, there are two sad episodes that have tarnished this celebration and both are related to fireworks.

The last chapter occurred in 2017, when the head of Panama Oeste, Federico Córdoba, died of complications after being injured while handling fireworks, ahead of the match between the “Cowboys” and Santeños, held at the Justino Salinas Stadium.

Fourteen years earlier, at Rod Carew, fireworks that exploded in the stands ended with The life of Ricardo Vega and injured 10 other people during a pre-Olympic match between Panama and the United States.

The move caused division among fans. Some consider it late but appropriate, while others point out that it is part of their style of celebration.

As for the tournament, Los Santos secured a ticket to the final of the championship after leaving Coclé on the road and waiting for the rivals, who will come out of the key between Colon and Herrera.
