He General Director of ETESA, Carlos Mosquera Castillo He presented the progress of the most important projects implemented by the state electricity transmission company.
During his speech at XII Industrial Symposium on Energy and Water, Mosquera addressed issues such as transmission capacity and national and regional energy exchange, where he provided details on the progress of the project. IV transmission line, which consists of the construction of a 500 KV double-circuit transmission line with a length of approx. 330 km, which will operate at 230 KV in the first phase.
“Panama and important sectors of the economy – such as the national industry – benefit directly from the IV Line project, because it not only significantly increases the capacity for the transmission of high-voltage energy, but also increases the reliability of the system and the reduction of transmission losses and their costs that go to the end consumer Additionally, it contributes to the fulfillment of the energy transition agenda, significantly increasing the penetration of non-conventional renewable sources in the western and central zones of the country,” explained the manager of ETESA.
In relationship with Panama-Colombia Interconnection Projectwhich will cover a distance of about 500 km and will have a capacity of 400 MW, Mr. Mosquera pointed out that it is part of the program to promote regional energy integration, which seeks to consolidate interconnection and market projects within the Mesoamerica Project.
“Its performance will lead to the integration of the Andean market with the Central American market, with consequent benefits not only for the agents of the two countries, but also for the entire region,” he assured.
As the patron of this symposium he convened Industrial Union of Panama (SIP), ETESA It had a stand where visitors could learn more about the progress, challenges and opportunities of the Interconnected System Expansion Plan, which aims to ensure that high voltage electricity transmission is safe, efficient and reliable.
Within the framework of the XII Industrial Symposium on Energy and Water of SIP, domestic and international lecturers, from the public and private sector and the academic community, analyzed topics such as: Energy transition – expectation vs reality; electric mobility; New trends in energy sources (green hydrogen and blue fuels); and national and regional energy transmission and exchange capacity.
