Received approximately 50 complaints totaling $139,122.68 Directorate for Consumer Protection and Defense of Market Competition (Acodeco) consumers vs. hotels and vacation plans.
The main complaint received by the entity was due to lack of information, in total there were 11 complaints amounting to USD 17,493.08.
Acodeco received five refund complaints totaling $22,879.00, four more contract terminations totaling $8,870.68, as well as two service violation complaints totaling $1,891.50).
The consumers also complained of breach of contract by the commercial entities totaling $2,985.00, a settlement of the contract for $10,500.00, and a case for truth in advertising for $25.
It tops the list of complaints between January and March VIP Global Marketing, SA with 16 complaints totaling $38,579.42, followed by Independent commercial resorts with 7 complaints and about $12,964.93, Decameron with six complaints totaling $6,451.60.
Also on the list are Arena Travel Club, Playa Blanca Signature, S,A., UVC Global Panama, S de RL / UVC Sales Panama SRL, International Destinations, International Corporation Utilities Management, SA and La Casa de Doña Cata. , among others.
In the hotels and vacation plans business, from January to March 2023, 22 complaints were resolved in favor of consumers in the total amount of $48,281.53.
Most of these settled cases were 10 due to missing information for $27,507.82; and 7 for offending clauses $18,105.32.
From 2019 to March 2023, Acodeco records 632 complaints received totaling $2,900,353.48.
Acodeco advises consumers to exercise caution when signing contracts that offer vacation plans or packages, benefits or discounts on hotels and stays, bonuses and other offers.
It is important to take care of advertising, prices and conditions, which will serve as evidence in cases of claims and filing of possible complaints against these economic entities.
Get as much information as possible from the company that is engaged in this activity, check its exact address or current address in the country, background, opinions and experiences of other consumers about the services offered by the provider.
Do not be fooled by wonderful offers at first glance or give your credit card if you are not sure about the transaction, also remember before any offer of additional credit that it suits the consumer with the bank.
Carefully read all the clauses of the contract before signing it, confirming in turn that the information given orally by the company representative matches that established in writing within the contract; and finally, keep all documents signed and issued by the supplier, to prove the relationship of the consumer, as well as the payments made.
