The budget management modernization plan is progressing

In the meantime, Permanent representative of UNDP in PanamaMaría del Carmen Sacasa, pointed out that the fundamental initiative is to know exactly where efforts are directed and that citizens have access to the same opportunities, through clear planning and greater efficiency of institutions.

Likewise, Director of the MEF State Budget, Carlos Gonzálezhe explained that the pilot plan of the project is underway, which is in the second phase with the inclusion of 22 new entities that will enter the training process for preparing their budgets in 2024.

He explained that the pilot plan started with 12 institutions and an annex General Budget Law for 2023with a focus on results for these 12 institutions.

González added that “by 2024, even more than 34 are expected institution with which the project has a total today, at least 12 more have been incorporated and there is a voluntary tender for that, those institutions that have that interest will be added and in this way 50% of the subjects of the sector would be covered by the public”.
