Panama defeats the Dominican Republic for the second time

In the last leg of the match, Panama defeated the Dominican Republic 4-3 at the Rommel Fernández Stadium this Sunday, which was the second friendly between the two national teams.

The ninth-ranked Panamanian team scored its first goal in the 10th minute of the game, thanks to Marta Cox’s free kick to take the lead on the scoreboard.

The Caribbean equalized two minutes later with a goal from Vanessa Kara.

In the second half, both teams made changes, trying to test the players and give them minutes.

Panama would take the lead again with a goal by Lineth “Palita” Cedeño in the 57th minute to set the score (2-1).

However, the Dominican women equalized and took the lead on the scoreboard with Mia Gayle Asenjo’s goal in the 65th and 80th minutes and turned the game in their favor (2-3).

But the Panamanians reacted again in the last part of the game, with goals from Erika Hernández and Karla Riley in the 87th and 90th minutes, respectively.

In this match, the coach of the Panamanian team, Ignacio “Nacho” Quintana, received a red card.

This was the second friendly match between the Panamanians and the Dominicans, both matches were won by “Nacho” Quintana’s team.

Panama is preparing to play in the 2023 Australia-New Zealand Women’s World Cup.
