Reganosa and EDP’s green hydrogen plant in As Pontes are on public display

The two companies will invest 156 million euros in the realization of this initiative

The processing of the project promoted by Reganos and EDPR for the construction of a plant for the production of green hydrogen in As Pontes is progressing in processing. Xunta announced yesterday in Galician official newspaper advertisement by which the application for the issuance of the unified environmental approval, the environmental impact study, the declaration of communal property and the project are made available to the public. Thus, from today, the 4th, a period of 30 working days runs for inspection of the documentation and possible presentation of allegations or statements. According to published information, the project will cover 28 plots, most of which belong to Endesa Generación.

The two companies will invest 156 million euros in the realization of this initiative, with which they plan to create about a hundred jobs — direct and indirect — in the operational phase, start a terminal that, when it is at full capacity, will be 100 megawatts.

The implementation of this project will take place in several phases: the first should be put into operation in 2026, and the last before 2030.

Objects

In addition to the hydrogen production facility, the project envisages other auxiliary facilities — such as a raw water pool; that of drinking water; compressed air system; nitrogen system; emergency generator or fire protection and security systems, among others—; supply connections from the electricity distribution and transmission network; hydrogen pipeline to the basic natural gas network, and an insulated pipeline for local distribution.

The initiative was declared a strategic industrial project (PIE) by the Xunta last September, which implies a halving of processing times, with the exception of those related to the submission of applications and appeals, while maintaining all technical, legal and environmental guarantees. .

Reganosa and EDP are considering various uses for green hydrogen, including industrial and domestic consumption and transportation.
