Galician citizens will be able to pay regional taxes through Bizum starting next week

Author: ADRIAN BAULDE

This is one of the novelties of the control plan of the Tax Administration of Galicia for this year

Galician taxpayers can pay regional taxes through bizum starting next week, so that Galicia will be “among the first autonomous communities in Spain to allow this option”, as stated in tax control plan Tax agencies of Galicia (atriga) for this financial year 2023, which was published this Friday in Galician official newspaper.

Contracts with banks will also be extended so that they can pay taxes through ATMs. At the moment, procedures can be carried out at Banco Santander and CaixaBank.

These two innovations are added to other methods implemented since the pandemic, such as payments on the line —through the Virtual Tax Office and by credit or debit card— and payment through a physical point of sale (POS) terminal in the office. Payment by bank transfer is also possible.

La Atriga points out that this year, after all concession agreements have been concluded, they will take over the management of the tax on landfills at waste disposal sites and their incineration, through a state delegation.

Other news

The control plan for this year 2023 “affects another year in the development and improvement of the field of information and assistance to citizens”, they explain from Ministry of Finance in the press release, as well as the offer of payment methods “increasingly simpler for the taxpayer” in order to promote “voluntary” fulfillment of tax obligations by reducing the administrative burden that citizens have to face.

Through the Tax Agency of Galicia, the Xunta emphasizes that it will continue to expand the means of informing and assisting citizens in order to “accelerate the provision of public services and make them more accessible.” The plan consists of general guidelines for action and plans for tax management, tax supervision and collection, which are confidential.

Attention to people over 65 years old

The document reminds that last year the service from Preference is given to people over 65 years of age, with an “enhanced” telephone service, in which calls are prioritized on the condition that the user declares that he is older than that age, “without the need to listen to messages or dial a number.” In case an elderly person comes unannounced, they are treated preferentially compared to other users who also arrive unannounced.

La Atriga also reports that during the first half of the year, an appointment service will be available so that the agency can prepare self-assessment taxes for the freight transfer of used means of transport (model 620).

In terms of prevention, the agency will implement a series of communication programs for promotion tax awareness collective of citizens. From the next school year, informative talks will be held for elementary school students from Galician educational centers. In addition, it will continue to “improve and simplify the subscription system for tax information and news of interest.”

Finally, in the “next few weeks” the new website of the Tax Agency of Galicia will be launched with a redesign “with the aim of simplifying its use and operation”.
