Atheyna Bylon falls and is eliminated from the World Boxing Cup

Panamanian boxer Atheyna Bylon was defeated in a close fight against Australia’s Caitlin Anna Parker by a split decision 3-2 in the quarter-finals of the Women’s World Boxing Championships in New Delhi, India.

The match between Bylon and Parker was very controversial, and the Australian got his revenge with the victory, they met for the first time at the Olympic Games in Tokyo 2020, and the Panamanian won 5-0.-

At the World Championship in India, the Panamanian defeated Russia’s Anastasia Šamonova 5-0 in the round of 16.

With the defeat in the quarter-finals, Panama Bylon missed the World Championship and will now have to focus on their next international commitments.

As well as the Central American and Caribbean Games in El Salvador, which will be held from June 23 to July 8.

Also the 2023 Pan American Games, which will be held in Santiago de Chile between October 20 and November 5.

Bylon participated in the World Boxing Championship for the sixth time, where he fought three times in the quarterfinals at these fairs.

The 33-year-old Panamanian was looking for a third medal at the World Boxing Championships, but this time it wasn’t enough

The first was the gold medal at the 2014 World Cup in Jeju, South Korea in the -69 kg category.

Last year in Istanbul, Turkey, Bylon won a silver medal in -75kg and is hoping to return to the podium in India.
