BBVA extends the option of opening a savings account to newborns

Parents can carry out the procedure through the entity’s digital channels

Newborns come with bread under their arm, in this financial case. The initiative undertaken by BBVA offers parents the possibility of opening account without commission for your children from birth, through digital channels – web or application – entity. The possibility that until now was reserved for minors aged 14 to 17 to register as clients on the line.

This option can be formalized as early as this month of March, as explained by the bank chaired by Carlos Torres and provided that their parents are already clients of the bank. Because parents will be the ones to sign up their children when opening an account, which is a process that will need to be in place DNI or TIE of your child and family book or birth certificate.

After registration, minors will have a commission-free account that will introduce them to the world of finance. At this occasion, father or mother will be the ones who have exclusive access through digital channels to the account of minors that you can manage through your global position.

This new offer is added to the one already launched by BBVA in Spain, where it adapted its application to minors between 14 and 17 years old, with a separate account for that, along with the BBVA Aqua Debit card without issuing and maintenance fees. This account, which allows young people access your banking through applicationsit guides them into the world of finance and helps them cover all their daily needs, such as checking balances, charging mobile phones, withdrawing money from an ATM with their passwords without a card and doing Bizum.

Actually, bizum became one of favorite features among young customers from BBVA. As soon as their parents or legal representatives sign them up for this service, minors can start using and receiving payments through this payment method.

In addition to being able to activate and deactivate it at any time, parents or representatives can also configure the maximum amount per Bizum sending operation available to minors, which is pre-determined in 500 euros -standard option- or 50 euros -junior option-.

In just five months, more than 27,000 young BBVA customers between the ages of 14 and 17 They already use the payment platform, perform more than 105,000 shipping operations, and February is the month with the highest traffic. The total amount of these deals is more than two million euros, with an average of 20.10 euros for each shipment.

Minors can also pay in stores on the line with Bizuma, as long as the representatives activate the functionality through their private area of ​​the BBVA ‘application’. So far this year, close to 4,000 operations e-commerce with an average amount of 26 euros.
