They promote January 15 as Sports Leaders Day

The Committee for Education, Culture and Sports accepted in the first discussion the project of Law 953, which declares January 15th every year as the Day of Sports Leaders.

“One day a year is something that these leaders deserve,” said proponent Ana Irene Delgado, adding that they do it even without pay, rain or shine.

Neighborhood or community leaders Antonín Aizpurúa and Gabriel Castillo participated in the discussion.

Aizpurúa indicated that the concern was created to honor those who left their legacy, such as León “Cocoliso” Tejada and Alfonso “Foncho” Méndez.

In his speech, Antonín stated that “Leaders are people who work for the community. We are the first safety ring, because we are the only ones who can deal with the problems of violence and we do everything to play sports”.

For his part, Gabriel Castillo asked that those for training at INADEH, in cooperation with Meduca, be taken into account, since they need to strengthen themselves professionally, and the work is getting harder every day. “We want more sports and less prisons, that’s why we need tools that will help us and thus treat our youth,” he pointed out.

While deputy Fernando Arce pointed out that being a sports leader is one of the most difficult tasks and that what they do is admirable, sharing his own experiences.

At the end, deputy Alina González pointed out that leaders are a special engine in every community and that everything is about connecting. “What they are looking for is good to add to the education system with Meduca and Inadhe and to implement training programs.”

In other aspects, the commission archived the project of the Multisectoral Permanent Council for the implementation of the National Commitment to Education.

Initiative 977, amending Act 1 of 1965, creating the Human Resources Training and Utilization Institute, on economic assistance matters, was referred to a subcommittee.

Also, the reports on projects 815 and 954 were approved so that they were unified, in relation to the improvement and well-being of educators and the Higher Institute.
