The opening of businesses in January increased by 15.6 percent

In Galicia, the growth of new companies remains at 4.1%

In January, 9,472 companies were established in Spain, 384 of them in Galicia, representing an increase of 15.6% compared to the same month of the previous year, compared to a smaller increase of 4.1% in the autonomous community of Galicia.

Dissolution of companies increased in the same period by an average of 5.8 percent with the disappearance of 3,931 companies across Spain, 193 of them in the Galician autonomy, according to data published this Thursday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE).

Of the total number of companies dissolved in January across the country, 84.8% did so voluntarily, 11.1% by merger, and the remaining 4.1% for other reasons.

The total subscribed capital for the establishment of new companies amounted to EUR 553 million, with an annual increase of 9.9%, and compared to the average subscribed capital, it fell by 4.9%, to EUR 58,388.

On the other hand, in January, 3,446 companies recapitalized, 8.2% more than in the same month of 2022, with subscribed capital growing by 35.9% and reaching EUR 2,787 million and an average capital of EUR 808,795, 25 .6% more in the annual rate.

19.4 percent of the companies created in January relate to trade, 16.8 percent to real estate, finance and insurance, and 12.7 percent to construction, according to INE.

As for defunct companies, 18.5 percent are trade, 15.5 percent construction and 15.4 percent real estate, finance and insurance.

The autonomous communities with the highest number of commercial enterprises created in the first month of the year are Madrid (2,042), Catalonia (1,868) and Andalucia (1,680), and those with the fewest are La Rioja (45), Cantabria (74) and Navarra (93).

As for dissolved companies, the largest number are Madrid (1,387), Andalucía (532) and Comunidad Valenciana (320), while those with the fewest dissolved companies are Navarra (31), Cantabria (35) and La Rioja. (36).
