It closed February with a drop of 2.1%, while in all of Spain registrations increased by 19.2%.

The growth of registrations recorded in January in Galicia cooled last month, in which the community fell to the last position in the ranking by region, with an increase in sales of 8.5%, well below the 32.1% reached in the same period (the first two months of the year ) throughout Spain; and 46% of the community of Madrid, which leads the jump.

The Galician market did not react in February, a month in which it recorded a decrease of 2.1% compared to the growth of registrations recorded in all other communities, except Extremadura. In all of Spain, sales increased by 19.2% in February.

February was the second consecutive month with positive figures on the Spanish market, but they are still 22% lower than those of the same period in 2020, according to the balance presented yesterday by the associations of manufacturers (Anfac), traders (Faconauto) and sellers (Ganvam). . The reason for this growth? This is partly due to improvements in the supply chain and in vehicle production. “We have to keep in mind that in the last months of 2022, sales fell due to bottlenecks in vehicle transportation, so it is not clear how much the increase achieved in January and February would correspond to these sales held in November and December,” they point out. outside the sector.

Port models, Dacia Sandero, with 2,427 registrations, repeats as the best-selling model, climbing to the top of the podium three months in a row. They are followed by Seat Arona (with 2,385) and Peugeot 2008, manufactured in Vigo (1,906 units).

Looking at the type of fuel, sales of cars with gasoline (with a market share of 42.6%) and diesel (13.6%) engines slightly increased in February compared to the previous month. For the first time in several months, alternative energy sources, mostly electrified, were reduced, although they are still the most demanded, with a share of 43.9 percent.

“At this rate, the goal for this year of 190,000 electrified units will not be possible, we will be around 96,000,” says Anfac.
