Kamay Ventures announced that it will invest in Webee, a Cordovan company installed in Silicon Valley since 2015., which uses technology to solve problems in manufacturing and agricultural supply chains. With this payment, the corporate investment fund Arcor and Coca-Cola bet again on the Argentine company, after investing in the Mexican-Colombian Ruedata.
Webee is a company created in Córdoba in 2013, which designs software that simplifies industrial processes, optimizes work time and reduces costs in a sustainable way. Its intuitive remote monitoring platform uses the Internet of Things (IoT) and artificial intelligence (AI) to develop a customizable “digital whiteboard”, which allows users to set up data processing and workflows without writing a line of code.
“We know that technology is a great ally for the development of efficient systems, but it is important to remember that its application in our industries should not be a big challenge. Companies like Webee are democratizing access to data and showing that digital acceleration is an affordable bet“, explains Gabriela Ruggeri, director of Kamay Ventures.
With its remote monitoring network, Webee applies a 360° intelligence system that monitors the lines and machines involved and thus identifies inefficiencies in order to rebuild the chain of operations as soon as possible and avoid inefficient use of water and energy.
“The IoT sensors we installed are simple, very cheap and they can save tons of water on inefficient irrigation systems or fertilizer use by measuring soil nutrients, to name a few examples. And it’s not that today it’s not measured, but the digested information is not accessed in a way that the user can activate it,” he details Cecilia Flores, co-founder of Webee and the first Argentinian winner of the Female Founders Competition award from Melinda Gates.
These solutions are adaptable to any production line, since they work with existing infrastructure. Webee listens to your facility’s installation design requirements and then trains the team on all available gauges and tools. The platform offers its real-time data processing and monitoring services through connectivity with wireless sensors and decision-support devices.
In energy consumption, this monitoring system can save up to 15% and reduce the risk of machine downtime to 20%.. In addition, it offers IoT devices with LoRaWAN connectivity, which is an ideal technology for unconnected rural places. This way, controls the use of resources remotely, helping companies measure and meet carbon reduction targets.
With the capital injection received from Kamay Ventures, Webee expects to secure capital to continue to grow in scale. It is currently present in the United States, Mexico, Central America, Costa Rica and Argentina, and plans to continue expanding in Latin America.
Company It already applies its services to clients such as Colgate Palmolive, Syngenta, Coca-Cola, Tenaris, Rizobacter, Lartirigoyen and Driscoll’s. Its mission is to make its clients more efficient and improve processes such as grain drying, soil condition monitoring, critical equipment maintenance and productive quality process assurance, among others.
For Kamay Ventures, Webee is the third investment in the IoT vertical, after Viagra and Ruedate. In this way, it reaffirms its intention to promote technological development that optimizes the production chain with a sustainable approach. In the Appendix, this is the fund’s tenth bet since its inception after Auravant, Retrypay, Altscore, Zippin, Aerialoop and Kilim.
