‘Nacho’ Quintana: ‘Classification is a long-term work’

The coach of Mexico in the service of the Panamanian national team, Ignacio ‘Nacho’ Quintana, highlighted the work of his team and that qualifying for the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand in 2023 is the dream of the players, the leadership of Fepafut, the coaching staff and the entire team. Panamanians.

According to “Nacho” Quintana, qualifying for the World Cup is the product of many years of work, even before his arrival in Panama, it is the result of “work” and previous “processes”, he explained.

“I believe qualifying for the Women’s World Cup is the result of several years of work, not just because I’ve been here for two years (Panama),” he said.

Quintana alluded to the fact that women’s soccer did their work in advance, they even had a chance to play many years ago, he recalled.

Qualifying for the World Cup is a consequence of all of the above, not only the two years we have, there are more years and “we used that”, said Quintana.

Regarding the match against Paraguay, Quintana added that it went as expected.

“We knew we were going to suffer,” admitted the coach, referring to the match against Paraguay, a country that invests in women’s football, which has its own High Performance Center for girls, but that game “turned out well for Panama,” he narrowed.

Coach “Nacho” Quintana also thanked for the support given to him since he took office and because of that he “feels like another Panamanian”.

The Mexican also thanked his coaching staff, assistants like Raiza Gutiérrez and Hugo Olmedo, whom he called quiet “geniuses” in qualifying.

Similarly, Quintana thanked his coaching staff and players who will give them the opportunity to face coaches and rivals such as Brazil, France and Jamaica, top level teams.
