FEI President visiting Panama

The President of the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) and IOC member Ingmar De Vos met with the sports authorities of this country and committed to supporting the Panamanian Equestrian Organization (OEP) in the implementation of FEI events included in the equestrian calendarThe Panamanian Olympic Committee (COP) reported this Wednesday.

“In this important visit, the FEI President was able to see first-hand the development that Panamanian equestrianism has had in recent years, as well as the challenges it faces to continue growing. He also committed to support the Equestrian Organization of Panama (OEP) to realize FEI events included in the equestrian calendar,” said a statement released by the COP.

An example of this growth of equestrian sports in Panama occurred at the last Central American and Caribbean Games in San Salvador in 2023. when Victoria Heurtematte together with “Scarlett du Sart Z” won the gold medal for Panama in the equestrian show jumping competition.

De Vos, who finished his visit to the Central American country yesterday, was accompanied on the tour by Francisco Lima, Director of Management and Institutional Affairs of the FEI, and Frédérique Raffert, Head of the Office of the General Secretariat of the FEI.

Senior Riding Manager also took the opportunity to hold meetings with Denis Arce during this visit, the director of the government’s Panama Sports Institute (Pandeportes), Damaris Young, the president of the COP and the president of the OEP, Heraclio Barletta.

Barletta recognized “the honor represented by the visit of the highest authorities of world equestrianism to Panama” and that despite the short duration of the visit, “an agenda full of activities was realized, from on-site meetings with clubs to important working meetings for the benefit of equestrian sports in Panama.”
