Jaime ‘Jimmy’ Lozano, the coach of Mexico, assured this Wednesday that he dreams of membership in the Mexican Football Federation (FMF). Coaching processes are respected, as was done with the Spaniard Thomas Christiansen in Panama.
“We know that in universal football, the continuity of the process depends on the results. I would like the FMF to think like Panama. It’s becoming clearer to me, you see other teams and in which If you have more confidence, you get results,” he explained at the press conference.
Mexico and Panama will meet this Thursday in the semi-finals of the Concacaf League of Nations, a trophy that Mexico has not won in the two editions held.
Part of the Mexican media reported that this tournament is important for the future of Lausanne, who sat on the tricolor bench last June and won the Gold Cup against Panama.
“Everything has changed since we faced Panama in the Gold Cup, both coaches are working longer hours. The numbers show that Panama is one of the teams that has had the most growth in Concacaf, something that for me has to do with looking at the times that gave to their coach in the process,” echoed Lozano, who led Mexico to a bronze medal as a coach at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Of the four teams in the Nations League semifinals, in which the United States will play Jamaica in the second round, Lozano marked the Panamanians as those who have grown the most at the football level and once again praised Christiansen, the coach of that Central American country since July 2020.
“Time gives you an understanding and a chance to bond with the players who are important in the team. Now both countries are two games away from lifting the trophy and we will go out and give our best version on the field.”
Lozano, who made 34 appearances and scored 12 goals for Mexico as a player, refused to speak ill of one of his predecessors, Argentina’s Gerardo Martin. he was criticized this week by Edson Álvarez, called up for the match against Panama, and Andrés Guardado, withdrawn from the Trio but captain for much of the Tata process.
“Everyone is free to communicate what they want and everyone has their own truth. I have only good words for Martin and his coaching staff, they treated us wonderfully and I’m sure everyone would have liked the results to be different at the World Cup… Qatar, but it’s football and we didn’t get to the World Cup at a good time,” Lozano said.
