eNorth East Panama Electricity Distribution Company (ENSA) expansion is complete Calzada Larga substationlocated in Corregimiento Caimitillo, province of Panama.
This project, in which more than 2 million dollars has been invested, represents a significant milestone for the company in order to improve the service for more than 72 thousand inhabitants in the cities of Caimitillo, Chilibre, Alcalde Díaz, Las Cumbres and Ernesto Córdoba Campos.
This work, which included the installation of a new power transformer, increased the power transformation capacity from 10.5 to 25 megavolt-amperes (MVA), which enabled greater reliability of supplying customers with new circuits that support the existing ones and by expanding the ability to serve new customers installed in part of this substation.
Daniel Arango Ángel, Executive President of ENSA Grupo EPMhe pointed out that this expansion represents a strategic step in our firm intention to continue providing reliable and high-quality electric services to the communities in which we are present.
From 2019, we are implementing an intensive plan of approximately B./16.3 million in the expansion of substations such as Santa María, Geehan and Calzada Larga, with another B./2.7 million in the replacement of two energy transformers in the Tinajitas Substations in San Miguelito and Chilibre in the northern part of Panama.
“The investment and meticulous focus on improving our infrastructure underscores our commitment to operational excellence and meeting our customers’ expectations.”
The expansion works covered various areas, from the adjustments required for the installation of transformers, the control house, construction works and above all the automation of protection and the installation of remote control equipment, among other key aspects, were planned and carried out with the aim of serving new customers, supporting existing users and faster response to events that occur in the substation.
By 2024, an investment of B1.9 million is planned for the replacement of two energy transformers in substations in the province of Colón.
Undoubtedly, with this expansion, ENSA not only consolidates its position as a reliable electricity supplier in the Northeast of Panama, but also plays an important role in contributing to the aspiration towards a stronger and more sustainable energy future for the families and communities in general located within its concession area.
