Panama will be at the Tour of Colombia

The Tour Colombia 2.1, which starts on February 6 and will have six stages, will be present on the channel when the Panama es Cultura y Valores team starts, co-managed by former coffee cyclist Félix “el gato” Cárdenas with Chirican Antonio Cuano.

A total of 24 teams will form a platoon among these three world teams, two professional teams, 14 with a continental license that include Panama’s culture and values, as well as five national teams.

The Isthmus roster consists of Franklin Archibold, who won the International Tour of Chiriquí last January, Christofer Jurado, Bolívar Espinosa, Alex Strah, Randish Lorenzo and Felipe Chang.

“This will be the second high-level test in preparation for cycling with an eye on the 2024 Paris Olympics. In addition, it marks the start of the preparation process for qualifying for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Young people love “Pipe” Chan, at just 19 years old , shows great potential to qualify for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics in the road race.

After our participation in Tokyo, we are now going to Paris, and our next target is Los Angeles, a process that started in October 2023,” added Antonio Cuan, technical director of the Canalera team.

Team Movistar, with Nair Quintana and Fernando Gaviria; EF Education-Easy Post, with Rigoberto Urán, Richard Carapaza and Andrey Amador; Team Astana Qazaqstan, with Mark Cavendish and Alexey Lutsenko, will be part of this cycling tour on Colombian soil.

“We are well focused on the finish, as it is a very competitive race. We have been here in Colombia for several weeks training at altitude for this Tour. Furthermore, we cannot ignore the responsibility that any of us can have for the Olympic Games,” commented Chirican Franklin Archibold.

OFFICIAL OVERVIEW OF THE TOUR
Phase 1 – Tuesday, February 6
Paipa-Duitama-La Y-Tibasosa-Sogamoso-Nobsa-La Y-Duitama, a total of 155 kilometers.

Phase 2 – Wednesday, February 7
Paipa-Tunja-Ventaquemada-Regreso-Tunja-Paipa-Duitama-Santa Rosa de Viterbo, 169 kilometers long.

Phase 3 – Thursday, February 8
The track in Tunja is planned for 12 turns with a length of 155 kilometers.
Phase 4 – Friday, February 9

Paipa-Tunja-Ventaquemada-Villapinzón-Chocontá-Gachancipá-Tocancipá-Chía-Cajicá-
Zipaquirá, for 181.8 kilometers.

Stage 5 – Saturday, February 10, Cota-Siberia-El Rosal-La Vega-Villeta-return-Alto del Vino, 138.3 kilometers long.

Stage 6 – Sunday, February 11 Sopó-Tocancipá-Gachancipá-Chocontá-Sesquilé-Guatavita-La Calera-Alto de Patios-Bogotá
(National Park), with a length of 155 kilometers.
