He 61% of workers in Panama do not feel satisfied with their jobs according to Konzert’s study on balance in 2023 and expectations in 2024.
However, job dissatisfaction has decreased slightly in Panama: in 2022, 66% of people surveyed said they were not satisfied with their jobs.
Of the human resources professionals in Panama, 40% could not specify whether their projection for 2024 is positive or negative, answering that they do not know, 20% believe that the world of work will be worse in the new year; 25% which will remain the same; and 15% think it will improve.
“The prospects for employment in the first six months are influenced by this year’s election process, and the challenges the country is facing in different sectors of the economy. In this context, many entrepreneurs and talents experience this uncertainty regarding the world of employment,” explains Jeff Morales, head of marketing at Konzerta.
In the previous edition of the study, The majority response regarding the perception of the New Year was positive and experts predicted an improvement in the world of work. In 2022, 41% believe that the situation on the labor market will be better for the next year; in 2023, only 15%.
In Panama, human resources experts who believe that the situation will be worse in 2024 point to the 100% impact of the country’s economic context on the labor market as the causes; less offer of jobs by 75%, and loss of value salaries compared to inflation by 25%.
On the contrary, among experts who believe that the situation will improve: 67% believe that the working conditions will enable the attraction of new talents, and the other 33% believe that there will be more jobs.
What is your balance for 2023? 55% of HR professionals in Panama believe that the work year was good for their companies; 30%, regular; 10%, bad; and 5%, very bad.
Even compared to 2022, the positive assessment of the working year for Panamanians has increased: 51% of human resources experts rated it as good. However, 5% consider this year to be a very bad year, an option that did not register responses in the last edition.
As for salaries in 2024, only 30% of experts in Human resources plans to increase them, and the increase that most would achieve would be 5%.
The salary increase projection was reduced compared to 2023, where 57% of personnel planned salary increases.
